“Life does not have to be perfect to be wonderful.” -Annette Funicello
I met Emily about 10 years ago when we were living in the same college dorm. I admired her from afar. She came to school with beautiful long wavy hair and soon traded it for a short sassy cut. Yes, she has ALWAYS looked good in everything. She also has a heart of gold that I admired from afar and got to know up close. Somehow our friend circles finally connected and I got to have Emily in my life more frequently. Throughout college I watched Emily play really hard and work even harder. She always had jobs and side hustles but still found time to be a good friend and girlfriend (to her now husband!). Emily helped me score my first paying job after college at a restaurant where she and some of her friends worked. We moved in together and I had one of the best years of my life enjoying this sweet friendship + watching her grow her business.
Fast forward to 2018 and Emily Barton is absolutely killing it! She runs her incredible makeup company Designed Elegance + is an advocate for safer beauty products with Beauty Counter (like just went to DC last month to speak to Congress) + is the best mom to her sweet Jaxlee born with Cerebral Palsy + has a YouTube channel that you should definitely watch + so so much more. You can read all about her story on her website: Emily Renee Barton.
So obviously, I’m a fan. And I was so honored when she asked me to design her new logo.
