It’s #nationalhandwritingday and I’m just bubbling with gratitude that I get to have handwriting as a job. Thankful thankful. And despite my love for lettering, I printed, addressed, and sent out ZERO Christmas cards this year. But this is what it would have been. Today I’ll be making some thank you cards to celebrate. I will forever and always be a dessert person. To me, they represent a chance for celebration. Milo also loves crunching leaves with his fingers and putting them in his mouth. I heard myself say “we don’t eat leaves” and then I was like well actually we eat tons of leaves... just not the ones from the ground that the dog brings in. 🤷‍♀️ Also this picture represents my last wedding of 2019. I thought I’d be further along by now. I thought that by this time I’d be easily running my business, and be great at full time mom-ing, and have a clean house, and dinner on the table every night, and be a good friend, and the list goes on. But the truuuth is that those were unrealistic expectations. I have stopped Milo from eating pebbles off the floor more than once. My business is so much of my heart and yet feels so out of reach much of the time. I have thrown out moldy veggies because my good intentions for dinner didn’t work out. But today!! Today I’m meeting with some moms in Bend who are in a similar place. Some artists and some others who work from home. People who have realized that we need each other. I’m really excited about this village. (Message me if you think it might be a fit for you too!) And for those of you here for the letters, thank you. I could obviously not do this without you and I’m so grateful you’ve stuck through the silence these last few months. Looking forward to more showers and more answered emails in 2020. I’m often toting my charger from room to room and always plugging in when I get in the car. But sometimes, when the battery runs out and it totally dies and I’m out hiking or too lazy to go get my charger, it’s kind of nice. Like for a few minutes I am totally free of reminders and alarms and lists and can really, fully enjoy the moment I’m in. So yes, I love unplugged weddings. I’m Casey and this is my family. My husband Greg is a mental health counselor who helps everyone (especially me) take deeper breaths. Our newest member, Milo, is my favorite creature of all (sorry, Zia) and I can’t believe he’s already so much bigger than in this picture . He’s an adjustment to my daily schedule, and more delightful than I ever imagined. Most days I can be found in leggings and a pony tail, drinking coffee, and working on at least 10 things at once. Usually equal parts spitup + dry shampoo in my hair. I set a goal of reading 12 books this year (I’ve read 2.5). I’m an enneagram 7, snowboarding gets me through winter, and I am a sucker for a good thrift find + fresh flowers + trying new flavors of lattes. And I’m reeeeally grateful you’re here!
